IN RE:
SB1423 by Gallegos (Relating to the adoption of certain residential building codes in municipalities.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would authorize a municipality to adopt the 2003 Uniform Plumbing Code and the 2003 Uniform Mechanical Code in conjunction with the International Residential Code if the uniform codes are published in Spanish and English. A municipality would also be authorized to adopt local amendments and procedures as long as those are not less stringent than the codes. Under current statute, municipalities are required to adopt the International Residential Building Code. The bill would take effect September 1, 2005.
