LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 79TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 9, 2005

TO:
Honorable Kent Grusendorf, Chair, House Committee on Public Education

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB1446 by Averitt (Relating to public school admission and enrollment.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would authorize school districts to accept tuition from students who are required, as a condition of obtaining or holding a visa, to reimburse the cost of public education.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.  The bill would authorize districts to charge tuition for this purpose; however, these students would not be included in ADA since they would be paying the full cost of education.
