LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 79TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 23, 2005

TO:
Honorable Frank Madla, Chair, Senate Committee on Intergovernmental Relations

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB1453 by Wentworth (Relating to the recognition of certain officers as separate collective bargaining units in certain counties that have adopted The Fire and Police Employee Relations Act.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would apply to a county with a population of 1 million or more that adopted Chapter 174, Local Government Code after January 1, 2004, and in which the sheriff's department has created a civil service system under Subchapter B, Chapter 158, Local Government Code. The criteria would apply only to Bexar County.

Local Government Impact

Because the bill would not have statewide impact on units of local government of the same type or class, no comment from this office is required by the rules of the House/Senate as to its probable fiscal implication on units of local government.
