No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill amends Chapter 62, Health and Safety Code, to create criminal and civil penalties for the unauthorized removal of corneal tissue from a decedent. The bill amends Chapter 693 to provide that, on the request of an eye bank, certain persons may permit the removal of corneal tissue subject to certain provisions. The bill repeals Subchapter B, Chapter 693, Health and Safety Code.

The Office of the Attorney General anticipates that any legal work resulting from the passage of this bill could be absorbed within current resources.

It is anticipated that any increase in General Revenue resulting from civil penalties would not be significant.
