LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 79TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 15, 2005

TO:
Honorable Rodney Ellis, Chair, Senate Committee on Government Organization

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB1575 by Williams (Relating to the elimination of certain reports to or prepared by the Legislative Budget Board.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would implement a recommendation in the Legislative Budget Board’s "Staff Performance Report, State Government Efficiency and Operations" Submitted to the 79th Legislature.

Recommendation 1 in the “Eliminate Unnecessary Reporting Requirements for State Agencies” report proposes eliminating the Non-resident Bidder Report and the Training and Expense Report.  The bill would repeal Sections 656.105 and 2152.064, Government Code, which would eliminate these reports.  This would have no fiscal impact to state government, but would enable staff to spend time on more productive tasks.

The bill would take effect immediately upon enactment, assuming that it received the requisite two-thirds majority votes in both houses of the Legislature. Otherwise, it would take effect September 1, 2005.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
