No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend Section 352.002 of the Occupations Code to change titles relating to the voluntary regulation of persons providing certain ophthalmic goods and services, and add a new category of registered optician. The bill would specify educational and other qualifications for each category of registration. The Department of State Health Services estimates a cost of $7,500 in technology costs in fiscal year 2006 for contract programming and a revenue gain of $5,400 in each year.
