LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 79TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 25, 2005

TO:
Honorable Royce West, Chair, Senate Committee on S/C on Higher Education

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB1809 by Wentworth (Relating to conducting and financing the Texas Tech-Prep Program.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Local Government Impact

Implementation of the bill could possibly lead to the loss of $8.4 million in Perkins Title II federal funding and the loss of federal Perkins Title I funding of $96 million.   This possible loss of federal Perkins funding would result from the state being in potential non-compliance with federal regulations relating to fund monitoring and eligibility standards.
