Austin, Texas

ACTUARIAL IMPACT STATEMENT

79TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 25, 2005

TO:
Honorable Jim Pitts, Chair, House Committee on Appropriations

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1333 by McReynolds (Relating to the provision of state death benefits to certain employees of the Texas Forest Service.), As Introduced

HB 1333 amends Texas Government Code Section 615.003 to provide a $250,000 death benefit payment to eligible survivors of certain Texas Forest Service employees with fire related duties. The bill is estimated to cover more than 200 additional employees. An additional death payment is estimated to occur between every one and ten years.

The bill, if enacted, will have no actuarial effect because it does not propose to change the funding or obligations of any public retirement system.
