LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

ACTUARIAL IMPACT STATEMENT

79TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 12, 2005

TO:
Honorable Craig Eiland, Chair, House Committee on Pensions & Investments

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1420 by Phillips (Relating to the release of certain information by the Teacher Retirement System of Texas to associations of retired school employees; providing a civil penalty.), As Introduced

Current statute precludes the Teacher Retirement System (TRS) from creating a membership list for dissemination unless it is for the purpose of administering the system. The bill would allow TRS to provide such a list to a non-profit organization, with certain limitations and restrictions. The bill, if enacted, will have no actuarial effect because it does not propose to change the funding or obligations of any public retirement system.
