HB2465 by Denny (Relating to a public hearing conducted by the secretary of state in regard to the question of approval of a voting system or voting system equipment for use in elections.), As Engrossed

As a result of this bill there will be no significant restriction upon:

(1) the open records law;
(2) the open meetings law;
(3) the access to government information; or
(4) the ability of the citizens of Texas to transact public business.

The bill would amend the Election Code to require that public hearings be held to allow members of the public to express views for or against the approval of a voting system.  The bill requires the public hearings to comply with the notice requirements of the Open Meetings Act.  The bill would take effect September 1, 2005.
