The House Committee on General Investigating & Ethics Subcommittee on General Investigating & Ethics and Public Education 79th Legislature August 14, 2006 10:00 a.m. Capitol Extension, E2.030 Pursuant to a notice posted on August 9, 2006, the House Committee on General Investigating & Ethics, Subcommittee on General Investigating & Ethics and Public Education, met in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative Bailey, at 10:26 a.m. Present: Representatives Bailey; Flynn, Hochberg, Branch (4). Absent: Mowery (1). A quorum was present. Chairman Bailey called on Richard Lindsey and Leonard Strum with Houston Independent School District to discuss facility renovation and construction contracts. They discuss in-depth the job order contracting method that is available through HISD and the Buy Board. Chairman asked Gregory Smith, and Tom Barber, both with Jamail Construction to explain job order contracting from their perspective. Chairman called on Jerry Gallagher to explain his interest in the facility renovation and construction issue as it pertains to school districts. At 12:43 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection, the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair. ________________________ Rep.
