The House Committee on Juvenile Justice & Family Issues 79th Legislature July 12, 2006 10:00 a.m. or upon final adjourn./recess Capitol Extension, E2.014 Pursuant to a notice posted on May 26, 2006, the House Committee on Juvenile Justice & Family Issues met in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative Dutton, at 10:25 a.m. The roll was answered as follows: Present: Representatives Dutton; Castro; Hernandez; Strama (4). Absent: Representatives Goodman; Davis, Yvonne; Dunnam; Nixon; Thompson (5). A quorum was not present. The chair gave opening remarks. Testimony was taken on Interim Charge No. 2: Study the current law relating to who is authorized to conduct marriages, and make recommendations of any possible changes. Testimony was taken. (See attached witness list.) Testimony was taken on Interim Charge No. 3: Evaluate child support guidelines and formulas, considering whether the current methods provide adequate support to a child. Testimony was taken on Interim Charge No. 5: Consider the law governing presumption of parentage, and examine the adequate relief available to presumed parents who are child support obligors and who assert a claim of paternity fraud.
