Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule
11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on
Administration was held on Thursday, February 3, 2005, in the

The chair called the meeting to order at 9:02 a.m. There being
a quorum present, the following business was transacted:
The chair laid out the Administration Committee rules. Senator
Harris moved that the rules be adopted. Senator Whitmire
seconded the motion; without objection, the rules were adopted.
Senator Harris laid out each committee's proposed budget amount
and any exception letters that were submitted. Senator Hinojosa
moved to adopt each budget at the proposed rate and Senator Van
de Putte seconded each motion. Proposed budget amounts were:
Administration-$87,568
Subcommittee on Agriculture & Coastal Resources-$37,595
Subcommittee on Base Realignment & Closure-$44,850
Business and Commerce-$160,950
Criminal Justice-$177,682 and one salary exemption letter
Education-$147,370
Finance-$201,625

The chair and the members discussed Senate floor etiquette and
ways to keep the noise level down.
At 9:18 a.m. Senator Harris moved that the committee stand
recessed until the call of the chair; without objection, it was
so ordered.
