MINUTES SENATE COMMITTEE ON BUSINESS & COMMERCE Thursday, July 21, 2005 10:00 a.m. or upon adjournment Senator Fraser's Desk, Senate Chamber ***** Pursuant to suspension of Senate Rules 11.10, 11.18, and all other necessary rules, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Business & Commerce was held on Thursday, July 21, 2005, at Senator Fraser's Desk, Senate Chamber, Austin, Texas. ***** MEMBERS PRESENT: MEMBERS ABSENT: Senator Troy Fraser, Chairman Senator Kip Averitt, Vice Chairman Senator Kenneth Armbrister Senator John Carona Senator Kim Brimer Senator Kevin Eltife Senator Craig Estes Senator Eddie Lucio, Jr. Senator Leticia Van de Putte ***** The chair called the meeting to order at 10:33 a.m. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted: Chairman Fraser laid out the Committee Rules. Senator Armbrister moved adoption of the Committee Rules. Without objection, it was so ordered. The chair laid out SB 5 and explained the bill. Senator Armbrister assumed the chair. Witnesses registering on the bill are shown on the attached list. The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered. At 10:37 a.m. Senator Fraser moved that the committee stand at ease. Without objection, it was so ordered. At 10:38 a.m. the committee reconvened. Senator Fraser moved that SB 5 be reported favorably to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion carried with a record vote of 6 ayes, 0 nay, 0 present not voting, and 3 absent. Senator Fraser resumed the chair. There being no further business, at 10:40 a.m. Chairman Fraser moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chairman.
