Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule
11.18, a public hearing of the Standing Senate Subcommittee on
Emerging Technologies & Economic Development was held on Monday,
May 16, 2005, in the Capitol Extension, Room E1.028, at Austin,
Texas.

Chairman Carona called the meeting to order. The Committee is
in recess and a quorum was established at an earlier meeting and
will be re-established as the meeting progresses. The following
business was transacted:
Chairman Carona laid out HB 2755 and recognized Senator Brimer,
in the absence of the Senate sponsor, to explain the bill.
Witnesses testifying and registering on the bill are shown on
the attached list. The Chair moved that the public testimony be
closed; without objection, it was so ordered. Chairman Carona
moved that HB 2755 be left pending; without objection, it was so
ordered.
Chairman Carona laid out HB 551 and recognized Senator Brimer,
in the absence of the Senate sponsor, to explain the bill.
Witnesses testifying and registering on the bill are shown on
the attached list. The Chair moved that the public testimony be
closed; without objection, it was so ordered. Chairman Carona
moved that HB 551 be left pending; without objection, it was so
ordered.
Chairman Carona laid out HB 2928 and recognized Senator Brimer,
in the absence of the Senate sponsor, to explain the bill.
Senator Brimer sent up Committee Amendment 1. Witnesses
testifying and registering on the bill are shown on the attached
list. The Chair moved that the public testimony be closed;
without objection, it was so ordered. Chairman Carona moved
that HB 2928 be left pending; without objection, it was so
ordered.
Chairman Carona laid out HB 1253 and recognized the Senate
sponsor, Senator Armbrister, to explain the bill. Witnesses
testifying and registering on the bill are shown on the attached
list. The Chair moved that the public testimony be closed;
without objection, it was so ordered. Chairman Carona moved
that HB 1253 be left pending; without objection, it was so
ordered.
There being no further business, Chairman Carona moved that the
Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair.
