MINUTES STANDING SENATE SUBCOMMITTEE ON EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES & ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT Thursday, May 19, 2005 1:00 p.m. or upon adjournment Senate Chamber ***** Pursuant to suspension of Senate Rule 11.18, a public hearing of the Standing Senate Subcommittee on Emerging Technologies & Economic Development was held on Thursday, May 19, 2005, in the Senate Chamber at Austin, Texas. ***** MEMBERS PRESENT: MEMBERS ABSENT: Senator John Carona Senator Kim Brimer Senator Kip Averitt Senator Craig Estes Senator Eddie Lucio, Jr. ***** Chairman Carona called the meeting to order. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted: The Chairman laid out HB1659, pending in committee. Senator Lucio, Jr. moved that HB 1659 be reported favorably to the full Committee on Business and Commerce with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion carried with a record vote of 4 ayes, 0 nay, 0 present not voting, and 1 absent. The Chairman laid out HB 2228, pending in committee. Senator Lucio, Jr. sent up a committee substitute; the Chair recognized Senator Seliger to explain the difference between the committee substitute and the bill as filed. Senator Lucio, Jr. moved adoption of the committee substitute; without objection, it was so ordered. Senator Lucio, Jr. moved that HB 1659 do not pass but that CSHB 1659 be reported back to the full Committee on Business and Commerce with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion carried with a record vote of 4 ayes, 0 nay, 0 present not voting, and 1 absent. There being no further business, Chairman Carona moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the Chair.
