         Pursuant to suspension of Senate Rule 11.18, a public hearing of  
         the Senate Committee on International Relations & Trade was held  
         on Thursday, April 14, 2005, in the At Senator Lucio's Desk

         Senator Shapleigh called the meeting to order at 1:21 p.m.   
         There being a quorum present, the following business was  
         transacted:   
          
         The chair laid out CSSB 964 (which was adopted at a previous  
         hearing) and recognized Senator Carona, in the absence of the  
         author, to explain the bill.  Senator Carona moved that SB 964  
         do not pass but that CSSB 964 be reported back to the Senate  
         with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed.  The  
         motion carried with a record vote of 5 ayes, 1 nay, 0 present  
         not voting, and 1 absent.   
          
         The chair laid out SJR 27 and recognized Senator Carona, in the  
         absence of the author, to explain the bill.  Senator Carona  
         moved that SJR 27 be reported favorably to the Senate with the  
         recommendation that it do pass and be printed.  The motion  
         carried with a record vote of 5 ayes, 1 nay, 0 present not  
         voting, and 1 absent.   
          
         The following members arrived after the roll was called:   
         Senator Lucio.   
          
         There being no further business, at 1:24 p.m. Senator Shapleigh  
         moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of  
         the chair.  Without objection, it was so ordered.
