MINUTES SENATE COMMITTEE ON INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS & TRADE Thursday, July 28, 2005 12:00 p.m. or upon adjournment At Senator Lucio's Desk ***** Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on International Relations & Trade was held on Thursday, July 28, 2005, at Senator Lucio's Desk. ***** MEMBERS PRESENT: MEMBERS ABSENT: Senator Eddie Lucio, Jr. Senator John Carona Senator Eliot Shapleigh Senator Kevin Eltife Senator Craig Estes Senator Kel Seliger Senator Judith Zaffirini ***** The chair called the meeting to order at 12:57 p.m. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted: The chair laid out the proposed committee rules and Senator Estes moved that the committee rules be adopted. Without objection, it was so ordered. At 12:58 p.m. Senator Seliger assumed the chair. The following members arrived after the roll was called: Senator Eliot Shapleigh The chair laid out SB 30 and recognized the author, Senator Lucio, Jr., to explain the bill. Witnesses testifying and registering on the bill are shown on the attached list. The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered. Senator Lucio, Jr. moved that SB 30 be reported favorably to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion carried with a record vote of 5 ayes, 0 nay, 0 present not voting, and 2 absent. The chair laid out SJR 6 and recognized the author, Senator Lucio, Jr., to explain the bill. Witnesses testifying and registering on the bill are shown on the attached list. The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered. Senator Lucio, Jr. moved that SJR 6 be reported favorably to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion carried with a record vote of 5 ayes, 0 nay, 0 present not voting, and 2 absent. At 1:02 p.m. Senator Lucio, Jr. resumed the chair. There being no further business, at 1:03 p.m. Senator Estes moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair.
