Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Jurisprudence was held on Wednesday, October 11, 2006, in the Capitol Extension, Room E1.016, at Austin, Texas.

The chair called the meeting to order at 9:13 a.m. The following business was transacted:
The chair gave opening remarks.
The chair laid out Interim Charge 1: Examine and make recommendations relating to the jurisdiction of statutory county courts, including the development of standardized language for Chapter 25, Government Code, to confer specific types of jurisdiction on statutory county courts and to ensure the statutes are clear and concise.

Senator Harris moved approval of the minutes from the previous meeting held on August, 24, 2006; without objection, it was so ordered.

The chair laid out Interim Charge 2: Examine and make recommendations to improve court oversight of fiduciaries appointed to make financial and personal decisions for wards as well as those appointed to administer an estate or trust.
