         Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule  
         11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Government  
         Organization was held on Monday, February 7, 2005, in the  
         Capitol Extension, Room E1.012, at Austin, Texas.

         The chair called the meeting to order at 2:41 p.m.  There being  
         a quorum present, the following business was transacted: 
          
         The following members arrived after the roll was called: 
         Senator Mike Jackson  
         Senator Jane Nelson  
          
         The chair introduced Committee staff.  
          
         The Chair laid out the proposed committee rules and Senator  
         Gallegos moved that the committee rules be adopted.  Without  
         objection,it was so ordered. 
          
         Joey Longley, representing the Sunset Advisory Commission,  
         testified on the recent Sunset findings and recommendations. 
          
         There being no further business, at 2:51 p.m. Senator Ellis  
         moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of  
         the chair.  Without objection, it was so ordered.
