         Pursuant to suspension of Senate Rules 11.10 and 11.18, a public  
         hearing of the Senate Committee on Government Organization was  
         held on Wednesday, April 27, 2005, in the Senate Chamber at  
         Austin, Texas.

         The chair called the meeting to order at 3:13 p.m.  There being  
         a quorum present, the following business was transacted:   
          
         Senator Jackson called up CSSB 1547. Senator Eltife moved to  
         reconsider the vote by which the committee substitute was  
         adopted; without objection, it was so ordered. Senator Eltife  
         moved to withdraw the original committee substitute; without  
         objection, it was so ordered. Senator Eltife sent up a new  
         committee substitute.  Senator Eltife moved adoption of the new  
         committee substitute; without objection, it was so ordered.   
         Senator Eltife moved that SB 1547 do not pass but that CSSB 1547  
         be reported back to the Senate with the recommendation that it  
         do pass and be printed.  The motion carried with a record vote  
         of 6 ayes, 0 nay, 0 present not voting, and 1 absent.   
          
         There being no further business, at 3:15 p.m. Senator Ellis  
         moved that the Committee stand at ease subject to the call of  
         the chair.  Without objection, it was so ordered.
