Pursuant to suspension of Senate Rules 11.10 and 11.18, a public
hearing of the Senate Committee on Government Organization was
held on Tuesday, May 3, 2005, in the Senate Chamber at Austin,
Texas.

The chair called the meeting to order at 3:30 p.m. There being
a quorum present, the following business was transacted:
Senator Nelson moved that she be shown voting with the chair;
without objection, it was so ordered.
The chair called up HB 1015 by Jackson which was previously
explained. Senator Harris moved that HB 1015 be reported
favorably to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass
and be printed. The motion carried with a record vote of 7
ayes, 0 nay, 0 present not voting, and 0 absent. Senator
Jackson moved that the bill be recommended for placement on the
Local & Uncontested Calendar; without objection, it was so
ordered.
The chair called up HB 1155 by Shapleigh which was previously
explained. Senator Jackson moved that HB 1155 be reported
favorably to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass
and be printed. The motion carried with a record vote of 7
ayes, 0 nay, 0 present not voting, and 0 absent. Senator Harris
moved that the bill be recommended for placement on the Local &
Uncontested Calendar; without objection, it was so ordered.
The chair called up HB 1820 by Eltife which was previously
explained. Senator Jackson sent up a committee substitute which
was previously explained. Senator Jackson moved adoption of the
committee substitute; without objection, it was so ordered.
Senator Jackson moved that HB 1820 do not pass but that CSHB
1820 be reported back to the Senate with the recommendation that
it do pass and be printed. The motion carried with a record
vote of 7 ayes, 0 nay, 0 present not voting, and 0 absent.
Senator Eltife moved that the bill be recommended for placement
on the Local & Uncontested Calendar; without objection, it was
so ordered.
The chair called up HB 2274 by Carona which was previously
explained. Senator Jackson moved that HB 2274 be reported
favorably to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass
and be printed. The motion carried with a record vote of 7
ayes, 0 nay, 0 present not voting, and 0 absent. Senator
Jackson moved that the bill be recommended for placement on the
Local & Uncontested Calendar; without objection, it was so
ordered.

favorably to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass
and be printed. The motion carried with a record vote of 7
ayes, 0 nay, 0 present not voting, and 0 absent. Senator Eltife
moved that the bill be recommended for placement on the Local &
Uncontested Calendar; without objection, it was so ordered.
Senators Whitmire and Gallegos moved that they be shown voting
with the chair on any bills that they missed; without objection
it was so ordered.
There being no further business, at 3:34 p.m. Senator Ellis
moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of
the chair. Without objection, it was so ordered.
