MINUTES SENATE COMMITTEE ON STATE AFFAIRS Tuesday, June 27, 2006 9:00 a.m. Senate Chamber ***** Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on State Affairs was held on Tuesday, June 27, 2006, in the Senate Chamber at Austin, Texas. ***** MEMBERS PRESENT: MEMBERS ABSENT: Senator Robert Duncan Senator Rodney Ellis Senator Tommy Williams Senator Troy Fraser Senator Kenneth Armbrister Senator Chris Harris Senator Eddie Lucio, Jr. Senator Mike Jackson ***** The chair called the meeting to order at 9:03 a.m. The following business was transacted: The Committee heard invited and public testimony regarding the health care portion of Interim Charge Nos. 1 and 2 relating to the Employees Retirement System of Texas ("ERS") and the Teachers Retirement System of Texas ("TRS"). Witnesses registering and testifying on Charges 1 and 2 are shown on the attached list. At 10:05 a.m. Senator Armbrister assumed the chair. At 10:08 a.m. Senator Duncan resumed the chair. At 12:55 p.m. the Committee stood in recess until 1:30 p.m. At 1:35 p.m. the Committee reconvened and heard invited testimony on electronic voting systems and the implementation of the federal Help America Vote Act. Witnesses registering and testifying on this issue are shown on the attached list. At 3:54 p.m. Senator Lucio, Jr. assumed the chair. At 3:57 p.m. Senator Duncan resumed the chair. There being no further business, at 4:57 p.m. Senator Duncan moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair.
