MINUTES SENATE COMMITTEE ON VETERAN AFFAIRS & MILITARY INSTALLATIONS Friday, March 31, 2006 2:00 p.m. Betty King Committee Hearing Room, 2E.20 ***** Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Veteran Affairs & Military Installations was held on Friday, March 31, 2006, in the Betty King Committee Hearing Room, 2E.20, at Austin, Texas. ***** MEMBERS PRESENT: MEMBERS ABSENT: Senator Leticia Van de Putte Senator Todd Staples Senator Craig Estes Senator Eliot Shapleigh Senator Chris Harris ***** The Chair called the meeting to order at 2:10 p.m. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted: Senator Van de Putte recognized Commissioner Ronnie Congleton, who led the Committee in the Pledge of Allegiance. The Chair made opening remarks and announced that the purpose of the hearing was to discuss interim charge number 3, relating to legislation passed during the 79th Regular Legislative Session. The Chair also announced that the Committee would be functioning under the same committee rules adopted during the 79th Regular Session. There being no questions or objections, it was so ordered. Persons who provided invited and public testimony on interim charge number 3 are listed on the attached witness list.
