MINUTES STANDING SENATE SUBCOMMITTEE ON BASE REALIGNMENT AND CLOSURE Thursday, August 24, 2006 9:00 a.m. Corpus Christi City Council Chamber Corpus Christi, TX ***** Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.18, a public hearing of the Standing Senate Subcommittee on Base Realignment and Closure was held on Thursday, August 24, 2006, in the Corpus Christi City Council Chamber in Corpus Christi, TX. ***** MEMBERS PRESENT: MEMBERS ABSENT: Senator Eliot Shapleigh Senator Craig Estes Senator Todd Staples ***** The chair called the meeting to order at 9:04 a.m. The following business was transacted: Senator Shapleigh recognized Senator Juan "Chuy" Hinojosa, who led the Subcommittee in the Pledge of Allegiance. The Chair made opening remarks and announced that the purpose of the hearing was to discuss the Subcommittee's interim charges. The Chair also announced that the Committee would be functioning under the same committee rules adopted during the 79th Regular Session. There being no questions or objections, it was so ordered. The Chair also recognized Senator Hinojosa, Representative Abel Herrero, Representative Juan Escobar, and Representative Gene Seaman for their participation with the Subcommittee. Persons who provided invited testimony on the interim charges are listed on the attached witness list.
