Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Windstorm Coverage & Budget Impact (Interim) was held on Wednesday, September 27, 2006, in the E1.030; House Appropriations Hearing Rm.

The chair called the meeting to order at 1: 22 p.m.  There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted: 

 

The following individuals presented invited testimony as a panel: Fred Bosse (American Insurance Association), Dr. Robert Hartwig (Insurance Information Institute), and Joe Woods (Property Casualty Insurers Association of America).  The following individuals provided invited testimony as a second panel: Kimberly Edwards (Texas Public Finance Authority) and Jim Oliver (Texas Windstorm Insurance Association).  The following individuals provided invited testimony as a third panel: Frank King (Merrill Lynch and Co) and Jim Wade (Consumers).  Texas Department of Insurance Commissioner Mike Geeslin provided invited testimony. The committee then heard public testimony over all interim charges (see attached list).

 

At 3:22 p.m. Co-chairman Smithee assumed the chair and at 3:24 p.m. Representative Eiland assumed the chair. Senator Jackson resumed the chair at 3:30 p.m.

 

There being no further business, at 5:10 p.m. Representative Ritter moved that the committee stand recessed subject to the call of the Co-chairs.  Without objection, it was ordered.
