System updates will be applied on February 19, 2026 at 6:00 PM. These updates will include changes to the user interface. Work is expected to take approximately 30 minutes to complete, during which the site will be unavailable.

	Amend HB 84 as follows:                                                      
	(1)  On page 1, between lines 4 and 5, insert the following 
appropriately numbered SECTION and renumber subsequent SECTIONS 
accordingly:
	SECTION ____.  This Act may be cited as "Katie's Law."                         
	(2)  On page 3, line 21, strike SECTION 7 of the bill and 
substitute the following appropriately numbered SECTIONS and 
renumber subsequent SECTIONS accordingly:
	SECTION ____.  (a) As soon as possible after the effective 
date of this section, the Department of Public Safety shall conduct 
a study to  determine the most efficient method of implementing the 
requirements of this Act.
	(b)  This section takes effect immediately if the Act 
receives a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each 
house, as provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. 
If this Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate 
effect, this section takes effect September 1, 2007.
	SECTION ____. Except as otherwise provided by this Act, this 
Act takes effect January 1, 2008.
