BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE

 

County clerks are authorized by statute to accept a will for deposit upon payment of a fee. the purpose of this bill is to raise that fee.

 

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

 

It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency, or institution. 

 

ANALYSIS

 

The bill would raise the fee for the deposit of a will with the county clerk of the testator's county of residence to five dollars ($5.00) from three dollars ($3.00).

 

EFFECTIVE DATE

 

Immediately upon receipt of required vote, otherwise September 1, 2007.
