BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE

 

Current language in Sections regarding specialty license plates for vehicles transporting agricultural products, drilling equipment, or construction equipment of the Transportation Code are referencing the incorrect sections of the code.  In the interest of clarifying language in the Transportation Code it would be beneficial to correct any errors in current language referencing incorrect sections.  HB 505 corrects any errors in the current language of the Transportation Code regarding specialty license plates for vehicles transporting agricultural products, drilling equipment, or construction equipment.

 

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

 

It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency, or institution. 

 

ANALYSIS

 

Section 1 amends Section 501.036 (a) of the Transportation Code by replacing the reference to Section 502.276 with Section 504.504.

 

Section 2 amends Section 502.167(g) of the Transportation Code by replacing the reference to Section 502.276 with Section 504.504.  It also replaces the reference to Section 502.278 with Section 502.188.

 

Section 3 amends Section 502.180(h) of the Transportation Code by replacing the reference to Section 502.276 with Section 504.504.

 

Section 4 amends Section 547.304(a) of the Transportation Code by replacing the reference to Section 502.276 with Section 504.504.

 

Section 5 amends Section 623.144 of the Transportation Code by replacing the reference to Section 502.276 with Section 504.504.

 

Section 6 amends Section 623.149(a) of the Transportation Code  by replacing the reference to Section 502.276 with Section 504.504.

 

Section 7 amends Section 623.194 of the Transportation Code by replacing the reference to Section 502.276 with Section 504.504.

 

Section 8 amends 623.199(a) of the Transportation Code by replacing the reference to Section 502.276 with Section 504.504.

 

Section 9 states the effective date of this Act.

 

EFFECTIVE DATE

 

Upon passage, or, if the Act does not receive the necessary vote, the Act takes effect September 1, 2007.
