AUTHOR'S / SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT

 

Current law requires an affidavit that voluntarily relinquishes parental rights to contain the address of the parent who is relinquishing parental rights.

 

H.B. 568 requires an affidavit to voluntarily relinquish parental rights to contain the person's county of residence, rather than the person's address.

 

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

 

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency.

 

SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS

 

SECTION 1.  Amends Section 161.103(b), Family Code, to require an affidavit to voluntarily relinquish parental rights to contain certain information, including the person's county of residence, rather than the person's address, and to make conforming and nonsubstantive changes.

 

SECTION 2.  Makes application of this Act prospective.

 

SECTION 3.  Effective date: September 1, 2007.
