AUTHOR'S / SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT

The commissioners court of Montgomery County has determined that an additional county court at law is needed to accommodate the increasing workload of those courts.

H.B. 682 creates the County Court at Law No. 5 of Montgomery County.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency.

SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS

SECTION 1. Amends Section 25.1721, Government Code, to add the County Court at Law No. 5 to the list of statutory courts within Montgomery County.

SECTION 2. Effective date: September 1, 2007.
