BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE

 

Current statute does not require the county treasurer to make a timely deposit when funds are received by other county officers. 

H.B. 892 addresses this by requiring the county treasurer to make timely deposits like other county officers.

 

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

 

It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency, or institution. 

 

ANALYSIS

 

H.B. 892 amends the Local Government Code to require a county treasurer to deposit funds received on or before the seventh business day after the date the treasurer receives the funds.

 

EFFECTIVE DATE

 

September 1, 2007.
