                                                                                                       Committee Report (Unamended)

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE

Currently, there is conflicting language in statute concerning the publication date of a school district's annual financial statement.  This bill amends the Local Government Code to correspond to provisions in the Education Code concerning the publication date of a school district's annual financial statement.  The bill also changes a reference to the Central Education Agency to reflect the agency's current name.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency, or institution.

ANALYSIS

The bill amends Section 140.006(d), Local Government Code, to provide that a school district's annual financial statement shall be published not later than the 150th day after the date the fiscal year ends, rather than not later than the 120th day after the date the fiscal year ends, as Section 140.006(d), Local Government Code, currently provides.

The bill also makes certain nonsubstantive conforming changes.

EFFECTIVE DATE
