AUTHOR'S / SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT

The 78th Texas Legislature enacted legislation creating a statewide licensing program for electricians, and placed the program under the administration of the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. The 79th Legislature amended the legislation to correct unintended consequences.

H.B. 1029 exempts plumbers from the Texas Electrical Safety and Licensing Act in order to perform plumbing work.  This bill requires that any work done meet the requirements of existing electrical circuits.
