                                                                                                       Committee Report (Unamended)

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE

Prior to 2003, food manager certification licenses were issued for five year terms, and other food service licenses were issued for one year terms. In 2003, state law changed the renewal terms to two years in order to lessen the administrative burden on the state and the financial burden on the applicant. However, the regulatory burden for food managers was increased. HB 1064 allows the food manager certification license to return to the previous five year renewal period.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency, or institution.

ANALYSIS

HB 1064 exempts food manager certification licenses from the two year renewal term limits.

EFFECTIVE DATE

September 1, 2007.
