AUTHOR'S / SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT
Due to their roles in the criminal justice system, employees in prosecutors' offices and their families are at risk of retaliation and harassment from criminal defendants. In the 78th Legislative Session, S.B. 450 was enacted to amend the Public Information Act to make the personal information of these employees confidential upon request. However, this statute did not address Section 25.025 (Confidentiality of Violence Shelter Center and Sexual Assault Program Address Information), Tax Code, relating to information contained in appraisal records.
H.B. 1141 authorizes employees of certain prosecutors' offices to make the address information contained in appraisal records confidential upon request.
