AUTHOR'S / SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT

 

Currently, the Department of Public Safety (DPS) owns a three-acre tract of undeveloped land in Frisco, Texas, which is adjacent to the Burlington Northern railroad on the west and near the intersection of Town and Country Boulevard and Spring Creek Parkway on the east.

 

H.B. 1382 requires the asset management division of the General Land Office to sell this tract on behalf of DPS.

 

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

 

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency.

 

SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS

 

SECTION 1. (a) Requires the asset management division of the General Land Office (GLO) to offer for sale on behalf of the Department of Public Safety (DPS) the real property described in Subsection (c). Requires the sale, except as provided by this section, to be conducted as provided by Section 31.158 (Real Estate Transactions Authorized by Legislature), Natural Resources Code.

 

(b) Provides that GLO is not required to offer the School Land Board the first option to purchase the real property described in Subsection (c).

 

(c) Sets forth a description of the real property to be sold under this section.

 

SECTION 2. Provides that this Act expires September 1, 2009.

 

SECTION 3. Effective date: upon passage or September 1, 2007.
