BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE

 

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) currently owns a 3-acre tract of land in the City of Frisco. This tract is adjacent to the Burlington Northern Railroad on the west and is near the intersection of Town and Country Boulevard and Spring Creek Parkway on the east.  This property is undeveloped and is not being used by the DPS.

 

The purpose of H.B. 1382 is to authorize the sale of this 3-acre tract of land by the Asset Management Division of the General Land Office (GLO), according to provision in the Natural Resources Code.

 

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

 

It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency, or institution. 

 

ANALYSIS

 

SECTION 1.               Requires the Asset Management Division of the GLO to offer the specified real property for sale as soon as practical, and in accordance with Section 31.158, Natural Resources Code.

 

Provides that the GLO is not required to offer the School Land Board first option to purchase the land.

 

Describes the specific real property to be offered for sale.

 

SECTION 2.               Provides that this act expires on September 1, 2009.

 

SECTION 3.               Effective Date.

 

EFFECTIVE DATE

 

Upon passage, or, if the Act does not receive the necessary vote, the Act takes effect September 1, 2007.
