BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE
There are circumstances in which it is necessary to determine whether a court reporting firm is conducting its business in this state. The purpose of this bill is to provide a statutory basis for making this determination.
RULEMAKING AUTHORITY
It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency, or institution.
ANALYSIS
The bill amends Section 52.001 of the Government Code, pertaining to court reporters, by adding a new subsection containing express circumstances under which a court reporting firm will be considered to be providing court reporting services in this state.
EFFECTIVE DATE
September 1, 2007.
