                                                                                                        Committee Report (Substituted)

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE

Brazoria County Sheriff's Deputy Jason Oliff was struck by a vehicle and killed while directing traffic in front of an industrial plant on the morning of December 5, 2005.

Deputy Oliff dedicated his life to protecting Texas citizens while serving the Brazoria County Sheriff's Office from July 22, 2001, until his death.  C.S.H.B. 1682 would provide a lasting memorial and an honorable recognition of the achievements of Deputy Oliff's life and service by designating the portion of FM 2004 located in Brazoria County as the Jason Oliff Memorial Highway.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency, or institution.
