AUTHOR'S / SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT

The Airline Improvement District (district) is funded through a one percent sales tax approved by the voters at an election held on September 10, 2005.  After the approval of the sales tax, district officials met with staff of the comptroller of public accounts to determine what businesses would be required to charge the sales tax.  During these meetings it was found that a boundary survey should be carried out to help determine what businesses the sales tax would effect.

H.B. 1694 clarifies the boundaries of the district for the purposes of the sales tax.
