AUTHOR'S / SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT

 

Current law authorizes the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission (commission) to waive the fees for hunting and fishing licenses for a qualified disabled veteran or a Texas resident on active duty as a member of the United States military.

 

H.B. 2130 requires the commission to waive the fee for hunting and fishing licenses for active duty members of the Texas Army National Guard, Texas Air National Guard, and the Texas State Guard.

 

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

 

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency.

 

SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS

 

SECTION 1.  Amends Section 42.012(b), Parks and Wildlife Code, to require the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission (commission) to waive the hunting license fee for a resident on active duty as a member of the Texas Army National Guard, the Texas Air National Guard, or the Texas State Guard.

 

SECTION 2.  Amends Section 46.004(c), Parks and Wildlife Code, to require the commission to waive the fishing license fee for a resident on active duty as a member of the Texas Army National Guard, the Texas Air National Guard, or the Texas State Guard.

 

SECTION 3.  Effective date: upon passage or September 1, 2007.
