AUTHOR'S / SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT
Currently the Texas General Land Office (GLO) may engage in the practice of selling commercial real estate if the School Land Board determines that it is in the best interest of the Permanent School Fund. However, the general public may be unaware of the process of how to purchase land from the state.
H.B. 2518 requires the GLO to provide information relating to the process of purchasing commercial real estate from the state on the GLO Internet website.
RULEMAKING AUTHORITY
This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to any state officer, institution, or agency.
SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS
SECTION 1. Amends Section 51.052, Natural Resources Code, by adding Subsection (i-1), as follows:
(i-1) Requires the General Land Office to post information related to the process for purchasing commercial real estate under Subsection (i) on the land office's Internet website.
SECTION 2. Effective date: September 1, 2007.
