                                                                                                       Committee Report (Unamended)

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE

Currently the Texas General Land Office (GLO) may engage in the practice of selling commercial real estate if the School Land Board determines that it is in the best interest of the Permanent School Fund.  However, the general public may be unaware of the process of how to purchase land from the state.

The purpose of H.B. 2518 is to require the GLO to provide information relating to the process of purchasing commercial real estate from the state on the agency's internet website.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency, or institution.
