BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE
Grayson County has established a need for a new district court. The purpose of this bill is to create a new district court in Grayson County and to reorganize neighboring judicial districts.
RULEMAKING AUTHORITY
It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency, or institution.
ANALYSIS
The bill would amend the Government Code to add a new section creating the 397th Judicial District composed of Grayson County. The bill would also reorganize the 6th and 336th judicial districts by removing Fannin County from the 6th judical district and removing Grayson County from the 336th judicial district. Housekeeping provisions relating to the transfer of cases are included in the bill.
EFFECTIVE DATE
The reorganization of the 6th and 336th judicial districts in sections 2-4 of the bill is effective January 1, 2010. Otherwise, the act would be effective September 1, 2007.
