BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE
Under current state statute, mobile food vending units are not required to complete daily cleaning and inspection. In order to maintain both sanitary and safe conditions these units should complete daily inspection.
The proposed complete committee substitute for House Bill No. 3672 requires mobile food vending units, operating in a county whose population is at least 2.8 million, complete daily inspection and obtain written documentation that the inspection has been completed.
RULEMAKING AUTHORITY
This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a State officer, institution, department or agency.
SUMMARY ANALYSIS
The proposed complete committee substitute for House Bill No. 3672 amends the Health and Safety Code to require mobile food vending units in counties whose population is at least 2.8 million to return to an establishment at least once each day that the unit is in operation. This visit would consist of cleaning and other services.
In addition to the daily cleaning inspection the mobile food vending unit would be required to obtain written documentation that the servicing has taken place.
The substitute also amends the Penal Code to include the documentation regarding the servicing of mobile food vending units to the list of government documents.
EFFECTIVE DATE
This Act would take effect on September 1, 2007.
