BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE

 

The 115th District Court serves Marion and Upshur counties. The purpose of this bill s to provide for a bailiff to serve the court in Upshur County.

 

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

 

It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency, or institution. 

 

ANALYSIS

 

The bill amends the Government Code by adding provisions stating that the judge of the 115th district Court shall appoint a bailiff to serve the court only ion Upshur County, providing qualifications for such bailiff and requiring the sheriff of Upshur County to deputize the bailiff on request of the judge.

 

EFFECTIVE DATE

 

September 1, 2007.
