BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE

 

The dates for the terms of the 49th District Court are in need of revision. The purpose of this bill is to revise such dates.

 

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

 

It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency, or institution. 

 

ANALYSIS

 

The bill would amend the Government Code to provide that the terms of the 49th District Court in Webb County begin on the first Mondays in January, April, July and October. Current law provides for the terms to begin on the first Mondays in January, April, June, September and November.  The dates for the terms of court in Zapata County are changed to the first Mondays in February and August from March and August.

 

EFFECTIVE DATE

 

September 1, 2007.
