BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE
The commissioners of Hunt County have determined that a second county court at law is appropriate. The purpose of this bill is to establish a statutory county court and to establish jurisdictional and administrative rules for county courts at law in Hunt County.
RULEMAKING AUTHORITY
It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency, or institution.
ANALYSIS
The bill would amend the Government Code to establish a new county court at law in Hunt County and to adopt provisions relating to the jurisdiction and administration of statutory county courts in Hunt County. The bill also includes a provision relating to the election of a district judge as local administrative judge by the judges of district courts.
EFFECTIVE DATE
September 1, 2007.
