AUTHOR'S / SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT
As proposed, S.B. 187 changes the name of the Brazos River Harbor Navigation District of Brazoria County to Port Freeport.
RULEMAKING AUTHORITY
This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency.
SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS
SECTION 1. Amends Chapter 55, Acts of the 40th Legislature, 1st Called Session, 1927, by adding Section 4e, to change the name of the Brazos River Harbor Navigation District of Brazoria County to Port Freeport. Changes the name of the entity's governing body to the Port Commission and the name of each member to Port Commissioner. Redirects all references in law to the Brazos River Harbor Navigation District of Brazoria County to Port Freeport.
SECTION 2. Effective date: upon passage or September 1, 2007.
